| Objective To explore the clinical efficacy, safety and influence on quality of life of Wupiyin in the treatment of upper extremity lymphedema after breast cancer surgery, and to provide TCM diagnosis and treatment basis for clinical treatment of the disease. Methods The subjects of this study were 80 patients with upper limb lymphedema after breast cancer surgery who were treated in our hospital from January 2024 to December 2025. All cases were strictly screened according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and then divided into two groups by random number table method, 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional western medicine alone, and the observation group was treated with Wupiyin orally on this basis. The treatment duration of the two groups was 4 weeks. The circumference of the affected upper extremity, the circumference difference between the affected and healthy upper extremities, TCM syndrome score, Disability of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) score, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score and Quality of Life (QOL) score were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. The clinical efficacy and adverse reactions of the two groups were counted. Results After treatment, The circumference of the affected upper limb, the circumference difference between the affected side and the healthy side, TCM syndrome score, DASH score, VAS score and QOL score in the observation group were better than those in the control group(P<0.05). Among the 40 patients in the control group, 30 achieved effective treatment, with an effective rate of 75.00%. In the observation group, 37 cases were effective, corresponding to an effective rate of 92.50%. There was a significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group and the control group were 5.00 % and 7.50 %, respectively, and there was no significant statistical difference between the two groups(P>0.05). Conclusion Wupiyin has a definite curative effect in the treatment of upper extremity lymphedema after breast cancer surgery. It can effectively reduce the edema of the affected upper extremity, improve the TCM syndrome and upper extremity function of patients, relieve pain, improve quality of life, and has good safety. |
