ObjectiveTo observe the effects of scalp acupuncture combined with Tuina on motor function, spasticity, and balance in children with cerebral palsy.MethodsA total of 98 children with cerebral palsy treated from January 2024 to December 2025 were selected and divided into an observation group and a control group by the random number table method, with 49 cases in each group. Both groups received conventional rehabilitation training. On this basis, the control group was given Tuina based on traditional Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation, and the observation group was additionally treated with scalp acupuncture. Both groups were treated continuously for 6 months. The scores of dimensions D and E of the Gross Motor Function Measure-88 (GMFM-D and GMFM-E), simplified Fugl-Meyer Motor Function Assessment (FMA) score, Clinical Spasticity Index (CSI), Berg Balance Scale (BBS) score, 10-meter maximum walking speed (10mMWS), and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) score before and after treatment, as well as clinical efficacy and adverse reactions, were compared between the two groups.ResultsAfter treatment, the total effective rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (95.92% vs 81.63%, P<0.05). After treatment, the GMFM-D, GMFM-E, FMA, BBS, and ADL scores and the 10mMWS were higher than those before treatment, while CSI was lower than that before treatment in both groups; moreover, the improvements in the above indicators in the observation group were superior to those in the control group (P<0.05). No serious adverse reactions occurred in either group during treatment.ConclusionScalp acupuncture combined with Tuina can effectively improve motor function, relieve limb spasticity, and enhance balance ability and walking ability in children with cerebral palsy, with good safety. It is worthy of further application in pediatric rehabilitation.
