| Objective:To investigate the preventive effect and safety of modified Xiaoji Yinzi on secondary ureteral strictures after ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy(URSL). Methods: A total of 62 patients with incarcerated upper?middle ureteral calculi treated in the Department of Urology, Zhangzhou Hospital of traditional Chinese medicine, affiliated to Fujian University of traditional Chinese medicine between 2023 to 2026 were enrolled and divided into treatment group (n=32) and control group (n=30) by random number table method. The treatment group took? modified Xiaoji Yinzi on the first day after URSL operation for 4 weeks, and the control group was given placebo after operation. The incidence of ureteral stenosis was evaluated 12 weeks after operation, the duration of postoperative gross hematuria, serum creatinine and adverse events were also observed. Results: At 12?week follow?up, the incidence of secondary ureteral strictures in the treatment group was 6.2% (2/32), which was significantly lower than 26.7% (8/30) in the control group (P=0.040). The anterior?posterior diameter (APD) of renal pelvis in the treatment group was smaller than that in the control group (P=0.037). The duration of postoperative gross hematuria in the treatment group was markedly shorter (P<0.001). There was no significant difference in postoperative serum creatinine between two groups (P=0.980). No significant difference was found in the incidence of adverse events between groups (P>0.05), and no serious adverse reactions occurred. Conclusion: Modified Xiaoji Yinzi can reduce the incidence of secondary ureteral strictures after URSL and shorten the duration of postoperative gross hematuria with favorable safety profile, which deserves further clinical investigation. |
